Judah's Baby Buggy

While Jon was out the other day Judah and I went to Goodwill to wait for him. After pushing him in the umbrella stroller (thanks April!) for a while he started to get restless and wanted to get out and push it himself. So I let him until all of the sudden he started crawling off in some other direction very quickly (which he does when he sees something he wants and knows he can get to it quicker by crawling). That is when I saw this little treasure. He climbed inside and I pushed him around the store for a little while and he loved it! Since it was only $3 and we happen to have the space in our trunk we decided to buy it for him. Call it an early Christmas present, if you will.

Apparently after a while he forgot how to exit from side, you know, where the door is slightly open.

So he proceeded to crawl out the bottom.

I thought it was funny, hence why I am taking pictures rather than trying to assist him.

But eventually he made it out from under the buggy so he could then take a turn pushing it. This kid cracks me up.

Sewing Projects

I was introduced to Pinterest by my sister-in-law, April Newman, which has given me some really great ideas/tutorials for several sewing projects that I want to do. I have been wanting to learn how to sew for several months but just haven't gotten around to figuring out how to use the sewing machine my lovely sister gave me. After seeing all these seemingly simple tutorials for knit skirts and dresses I decided I'm finally just gonna do it!

Here is my first attempt at a maxi skirt with jersey knit fabric in a deep purple that I actually really like (not like me since I usually tease others for liking the color purple). I found the tutorial for this skirt here.

I found this fun print in the clearance bin at the fabric store and thought maybe I could make a shirt with it. I used an old shirt that I had as the pattern after using this tutorial as a reference.

I know that eventually I will be pregnant again... someday... and I remember how expensive maternity clothes are so after seeing a few really great tutorials/patterns for maternity dresses I thought I for sure want to make some. I bought a bunch of clearance material (all knit because so far that's all I have experience with and because it stretches for an ever growing belly) and got to work! This is the first dress, clearly as you can see lots of imperfections. I found the pattern for this dress here. I actually paid for the pattern because it shows you how to make this dress (or shirt) with short, 3/4 or long sleeves so I thought it was worth the investment.

This is my second dress which is much more fitted (probably won't last long as my belly gets bigger, that is WHEN I am pregnant). This material was on sale but not clearance so a little bit more expensive. Oh, and I forgot to mention that it doubles as a nursing dress because the v-neck can be pulled off to the side, awesome!

And finally, my third dress. I really liked this clearance material but after I made a dress out of it it kind of turned out to be too busy. I'm not sure that I like the sleeves but they may just need to grow on me. I gotta say though, these dresses are super comfy. I'll probably be making more, especially since I'm getting much better at it as I go.

Hay Ride to a Pumpkin Patch then a Petting Zoo and Slides!

 My friend, Laura, invited us to go to a pumpkin patch with her and her daughter, June, and we had a blast!

 The place is called Butler's Orchard so they gave out a free apple to everyone. Judah loved his apple.

What a fun pumpkin patch! They loved all the pumpkins!

 Of course I turn around for a second and Judah's trying to shove an entire pumpkin into his mouth!

 June got to take a ride in the wheelbarrow. And then Judah joined her, aren't they cute?!?

 I forgot to bring a hat for Judah and it was starting to get really chilly so I made due with my scarf.

 So cute!

Judah loved the slides, he kept crawling over there for more!

 

Disclaimer: towards the end of the video it looks as if I am kicking my son, well I guess I kind of am, but more like giving him a shove lovingly with my foot. Trust me he was enjoying it. He LOVED sliding down the slide.

Family Pictures at the DC Temple

All of Jon's siblings took family pictures in front of their nearest temple for his dad's birthday. We are so lucky that our temple is next door to our church building so we just walked over after church one Sunday, but it was a little too bright outside.

There's the Judah stare. We had to try to balance our camera on a bag and use the timer to get us all in. Here we are trying to set up the shot. Obviously Judah was caught off guard.

 I'm pretty sure we used one of these for Jon's dad.

 Judah is about 14 months old now and starting to take steps and standing really well. He still gets around faster crawling though. 

I'm so happy that we are an eternal family!
